Rockets vs. Cavaliers Summer League Championship Preview: How To Watch, Lineups, More
The 5-0 Houston Rockets will compete in the 2023 NBA Summer League championship game Monday night against the 5-0 Cleveland Cavaliers inside the Thomas & Mack Center.
The game will mark the second time the Rockets advanced to the championship round in franchise history. Houston's first appearance came in 2014 in a 77-68 defeat to the Sacramento Kings in 2014. The Rockets and Cavaliers are seeking their first Las Vegas Summer League championship title.
Houston has been one of the best teams in Las Vegas since the start of the summer tournament. The Rockets have averaged 110.2 points and has yet to score less than 100.
In Sunday's semifinal victory over the Utah Jazz, the Rockets eclipsed the century mark for the fifth consecutive game.
Nate Hinton scored a game-high 27 points, five rebounds and three assists to lead the Rockets to a 115-101 victory over the Jazz. Rookie Cam Whitmore added 25 points, four rebounds and two blocks.
The Cavaliers have been just as dominant as Houston during their respective Summer League run. Cleveland has averaged 97.8 points entering the championship game, but Emoni Bates has made a name for himself as a second-round pick.
Bates has averaged 16.8 points on .435/.410/.100 shooting splits and 6.2 rebounds. He scored 20 points to help the Cavaliers defeat the Brooklyn Nets in a 102-99 overtime win on Sunday.
Isaiah Mobley made his presence felt with a team-best 23 points, seven rebounds, five assists, two blocks and a steal.
