Rockets 'Having Fun' As Team Remains Undefeated In Summer League Play
The Houston Rockets Summer League team hope to continue their undefeated 4-0 streak in the tournament semifinals on Sunday against the Utah Jazz.
In the Rockets' 118-101 victory over the Golden State Warriors Thursday night, forward Darius Days finished with 16 points on 5-of-10 shooting from downtown and grabbed seven rebounds. Days was very pleased with his performance and thanked his teammates for being catalysts.
"Man I'm telling you yes," Days said. "My teammates were finding me in the right position, I was knocking down shots. Everybody was making shots and getting to their spots. We were just having fun out there like every day we've been here."
Rockets sideline reporter Vanessa Richardson asked Days during the postgame interview his thoughts of the team's Summer League success and how everyone's developed over the short span.
"The first two games, Jabari [Smith] and Tari [Eason] were going crazy and the rookies Amen [Thompson] and Cam [Whitmore] stepped up as well," Days said. "Nate [Hinton] stepped up on the defensive end, Matt [Mayer] is stepping up, Trevor [Hudgins] is stepping up and all the other guys are as well. There's really no falloff and everybody's having fun."
The Rockets are all over the Summer League stat leaderboards as Smith, Eason, Hudgins, Mayer and Whitmore are in the top-10 in at least one category.
The Rockets will face the Utah Jazz on Sunday night. The winner of the semi-finals will play in the Summer League championship game on Monday night.
