Rockets Trade Eric Gordon To Clippers in Multi-Team Deal Involving John Wall
HOUSTON — Eric Gordon is back where his career started — in Los Angeles.
The Houston Rockets have traded Gordon to the Los Angeles Clippers in a multi-team deal that includes the Memphis Grizzlies. In exchange, the Rockets received John Wall, Danny Green and the rights to a pick swap with the Clippers. The Grizzlies were able to acquire Luke Kennard from Los Angeles.
Shortly after the deal, a source told Inside The Rockets that Houston plans to waive Wall upon his reunion.
Gordon played a critical role for the Rockets since he signed with the franchise as a free agent in 2016. Seven years later, Gordon's departure was inevitable.
He has been a highly sought-after trade target since the Rockets embarked on their rebuild following the departure of James Harden.
At 33 years old, Gordon was the elder statement for a team with an average age of 23.7. A source said the Milwaukee Bucks were interested in trading for Gordon before landing Jae Crowder from the Brooklyn Nets.
Gordon played seven seasons in Houston and averaged 15.7 points on 36 percent shooting from behind the arc. He won NBA Sixth Man of the Year honors during his first season in 2017.
Gordon began his career with the Clippers in 2008 as the seventh pick of the draft.
