The Houston Rockets will play the second of a six-game road trip Wednesday night against the Chicago Bulls inside the United Center.

They will attempt to bounce back after a 120-113 defeat to the Miami Heat on Monday. Fred VanVleet scored a game-high 32 points in the loss. And in the three games he has scored 30 or more points, the Rockets have dropped each game.

"Fred had a big scoring night but he usually makes the right reads," coach Ime Udoka said. "There is a lot on him when his teammates are not doing it at the same level. As a coach, you trust a player like him, but you do not want to run him to the ground.

"We need to find a balance as a team and learn how to make the right reads. But I feel we wasted one of his best nights."

The Bulls had a slow start to the 2023-24 season but have improved their play over the previous few weeks. Following their 119-112 victory over the Charlotte Hornets, Chicago has won seven of their last 11 games.

During the stretch, All-Star DeMar DeRozan has averaged 21.3 points while shooting 53.1 percent from the field, to go along with 5.7 assists and 1.7 steals.
