The Houston Rockets are set to begin a three-game homestand Monday night against the Los Angeles Lakers.

HOUSTON — The Houston Rockets will return to the Toyota Center for a much-needed three-game homestand, beginning Monday against the Los Angeles Lakers. Their homestand comes after the Rocket split their two-game road trip by falling to the Brooklyn Nets in a 106-104 loss Saturday night.

It was a wire-to-wire loss for the Rockets, which featured the Nets holding a 28-point lead midway through the second quarter. However, the play from rookie forward Cam Whitmore nearly led the Rockets to an improbable comeback.

Whitmore came off the bench to lead the Rockets in scoring with 19 points on 6 of 16 shooting and nine rebounds. He scored a dozen during Houston's near comeback victory in the fourth quarter. Over the previous three games, Whitmore has averaged 18.3 points while playing 20.9 minutes. 

The Lakers are coming off an impressive double-overtime victory against the Golden State Warriors. LeBron James led the way with 36 points, a career-best 20 rebounds and 12 assists.
