HOUSTON — The Houston Rockets will begin a brief two-game homestand Monday afternoon against the San Antonio Spurs, resulting in Victor Wembanyama's first game inside the Toyota Center.

It has been a month and a half since the Rockets last played against Wembanyama, who has lived up to the lofty expectations despite the Spurs' 16-game losing streak.

During San Antonio's previous game against the Chicago Bulls Friday night, Wembanyama became the youngest player in league history to record a 20-point, 20-rebound performance. He finished with 21 points and 20 rebounds while adding four assists and four blocks in the loss.

"To me, it doesn't hold much value if it came in a loss, but definitely a great achievement," Wembanyama said. "Hopefully, I can look back at this and think of it as a good performance someday."

Wembanyama's 20-20 output against the Bulls was one of several sensational performances 20 games into his young career.

He has scored 20 or more points in 10 games, which includes a career-best 38 points during the Spurs' 132-121 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Nov. 2. The win over the Suns marked San Antonio's final victory before embarking on a lengthy losing streak.

“He’s his own player, person," Kevin Durant said. "He’s going to create his own lane, much different than anybody who’s ever played. You can try to compare but he’s going to carve out his own lane.”

Wembanyama's first 20-point game took place in a 126-122 overtime win over the Rockets. He finished with a career-high 21 points, 12 rebounds, three steals and three blocks inside the Frost Bank Center.

"He's a competitor," coach Gregg Popovich said after the win. "He's going to be decisive and do what he thinks he can do to win. But they're all like that. So are the Houston Rockets. That's what these guys do. They're competitive or they wouldn't be where they are."
