NBA Trade Idea: Grizzlies' Ziaire Williams to Rockets for Jae'Sean Tate?

Ziaire Williams could prove himself valuable to the Houston Rockets alongside Jalen Green and Amen Thompson.

The Houston Rockets have made a plethora of moves this offseason, and so have the Memphis Grizzlies...but perhaps each team has another move left in them.

Bleacher Report suggests the Rockets should trade Jae'Sean Tate and two second-round picks to the Memphis Grizzlies for Ziaire Williams.

"While the Rockets spent their summer splurging on one veteran after the next, they should still recognize that this core is built more for tomorrow than today," Bleacher Report writes. "So, brightening the long-term outlook matters more than pushing for maximum competitiveness this season."

Despite recent moves proving otherwise, the goal in Houston still seems to be the growth of its young stars. At 27 years old, Tate does not fit the timeline of young stars Amen Thompson, Jalen Green, Alperen Sengun, and Jabari Smith Jr. Bringing in Williams allows him to improve alongside the other young players on the roster putting Tate in a position to play for a contending team.

As for the Grizzlies, Tate gives them a player who can join the roster now as a perfect fit for the grittiness that "Grind City" prides itself on, while giving up a player that has been unable to improve in the back of their lineup so far. The 6-5 swingman brings the toughness that Dillon Brooks gave them last season without the controversy that surrounds him.

While Williams himself has yet to prove himself as a consistent player, he has enough upside to make the trade worth it, even with Tate going to Memphis in this mock deal.
