Jeremy Sochan does not care what anyone thinks. The sophomore forward (or guard? Maybe the occasional center?) shoots free throws one-handed, dyes his hair outlandish colors, and talks trash like no one the San Antonio Spurs have had rostered since Bruce Bowen or Dennis Rodman.

With all his antics that have made him beloved in parts of Texas comes a lot of attention. Not all of it is positive, but an all-time NBA goofball took time on his podcast to talk about Sochan. In a clip from the Pat Bev Podcast, 12-year NBA veteran Patrick Beverley praised the young Spur.

“He’s tough as s***,” Beverley said. “You can’t punk him, he’s a fucking sponge. His motor is so fucking high, he’s got everything you ask for in a basketball player, and with size, so the sky’s the limit for that kid.”

It’s true. Sochan is already a good defender, he’s learning how to pass, and he’s a solid scorer in the interior. Of course, he is not a great three-point shooter, so it was kind of Beverley to ignore that in his praise.

“Every blue moon, you get a superstar out of nowhere,” Beverley said. “People didn’t think Kawhi Leonard would be a superstar when he first came into the NBA. [Sochan] gives me those vibes. He gives me elite, elite player vibes.”

Playing for the Spurs of all teams, Beverley confessed that Sochan is in an excellent position to continue developing. With a dead-serious look on his face, Beverley recounted his introduction to Sochan last season.

“He went at me twice! Usually, people go at me, I bump their a**, take them out their route, and then they give up," Beverley said. He go at me, I think I get a block, he go at me again. I get a steal.

“This motherf***er is crazy.”

Beverley will get another shot at Sochan and the Spurs when his Sixers play them on Jan. 22.
