NBA Power Rankings: San Antonio Spurs Dead Last with Losing Streak?

The San Antonio Spurs are on a 12-game losing streak. Where does that put them in this week's power rankings?
In this story:

The San Antonio Spurs are still looking for their first win since Nov. 2 after losing 12 consecutive games.

While the Spurs are showing some signs of progress, they have been unable to finish games and capture victories. Victor Wembanyama has been one of the league's best rookies, and he's even getting praise from two-time MVP Nikola Jokic.

“He is 19 years old,” Jokic said. “He is not getting scared of getting tired. He’s playing hard, and he doesn’t take it for granted. He’s making mistakes, which is normal. I think the media around him doesn’t help him, but he’s gonna get used to it. He’s gonna change the game, 100%. And he’s already on that path.”

However, the Spurs are still not the worst team in the league, according to the NBA.com power rankings. In this week's edition, the Spurs clocked in at No. 28, two spots lower than last week.

"The Spurs’ last three losses have been to the Clippers, Warriors and Nuggets by a total of just 25 points," NBA.com writes. "But their losing streak is now at 12 games and they’re the streaking team that doesn’t get to play one of the others (see Wizards-Pistons) this week."

Only the Washington Wizards and Detroit Pistons are ranked lower than the Spurs in this week's power rankings.

The Spurs are going to have a few days off to regroup before they return home to play the Atlanta Hawks on Thursday. Then, the Spurs have a quick turnaround before they head to "The Big Easy" to play the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday.
