The San Antonio Spurs are back in the loss column after a 115-94 loss to the Phoenix Suns at Footprint Center on Tuesday night.

The Spurs started out the game by digging a massive hole for themselves and never found a way to get out of it. The Suns built a 17-point lead in the first quarter and cruised from there.

San Antonio was able to cut it to a nine-point deficit midway through the third quarter, but Phoenix went on a run and padded its lead.

The Suns were led by their "big three" with Devin Booker's game-high 27 points. Chris Paul added 22 while Kevin Durant scored 18. The Suns are 7-0 in games where all three of them play.

The Spurs got strong efforts from their starting backcourt. Rookie Malaki Branham led the way with 21 points, while Tre Jones complemented him with 20 of his own.

Tonight's loss puts the Spurs 0.5-game ahead of the Houston Rockets for the second-worst record in the league this season after their Lone Star State rivals pulled out a shocking upset win over Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets.

The Spurs are back in action Thursday in Austin against the Portland Trail Blazers. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
