Spurs' Chemistry 'Right on the Money' in Rebuilding Year

The San Antonio Spurs are a happy group despite missing the NBA playoffs.

The San Antonio Spurs have a lot to work on this offseason in order to return to NBA relevancy. However, there's one team aspect the team doesn't need to improve on as much ... chemistry.

Despite losing 60 games in mostly a lost season for the Spurs, the tight-knit group of young players learned how to play together and it's something they will take with them into the offseason.

"I think they were right on the money," Popovich said. "The goal was development individually. Learning how to be a pro. Understand the team concept in the NBA and how to conduct yourself. In that regard, they showed a lot of character. When you're losing as much as we lost, it's easy to blame people. The character and personalities of the team really meshed. They got along. They enjoyed each other."

With winning falling short of the team's top priority, the pressure on the Spurs was focused more on individual improvements, and it's easy for teams to get along when the goal is the same across the board. It also helps when the goals match the expectations, considering the Spurs had very little going into the offseason.

In a league where it's hard to find a group that meshes well together and tensions rise amongst teams with high expectations, it's refreshing to see the Spurs rise above it.
