Spurs Close Out Season With Big Win Over Mavericks
In what was a rebuilding year for the San Antonio Spurs, this young team finished it off by defeating the Dallas Mavericks in their biggest largest of the season.
Despite playing on the road, San Antonio jumped out to an early lead and never looked back - beating the Mavericks 138-117.
After shooting a blistering 53 percent from the field along with knocking down six of their 12 attempts from beyond the arc, the Spurs found themselves with a 42-14 lead following the opening period.
However, Dallas would bounce back from its abysmal 20.7 percent shooting from the first quarter to outscore San Antonio 45-29 in the second period and cut the deficit down to a dozen.
But that would be the most competitive this game would get, with the Spurs continuing its hot shooting performance en route to scoring 108 points through three quarters.
Despite eight players notching double-digit point totals, Sandro Mamukelashvili (23), Dominick Barlow (21) and Malaki Branham (20) led the way in the score column.
For Dallas, guard Theo Pinson recorded his first career triple double (23 points, 12 assists and 13 rebounds).
Additionally, Jaden Hardy (25) and Davis Bertans (19) each finished with big contributions for the Mavericks.
San Antonio's 138 points will finish tied for their second-highest point total on the year.
Along with this, the 21-point differential jumps December 19th's victory over the Houston Rockets as its largest in a win this season.
