San Antonio Spurs PG Devonte' Graham Plays Unlikely Hero vs. New Orleans Pelicans

Devonte' Graham only played in a handful of San Antonio Spurs games this year, but he came up in the clutch against the New Orleans Pelicans.

San Antonio Spurs point guard Devonte' Graham is thrilled after scoring a team-high 20 points to lead his squad to victory on Friday night against the New Orleans Pelicans.

Already with a season-high in scoring, Graham ended the third quarter with a pair of triples against his former team, the second of which rattled in at the buzzer to send the game to the fourth tied at 86. The Spurs had trailed by as many as 14 in the quarter, but found a timely spark on the road.

Despite not playing most of the year, Graham shared with reporters his mindset during the difficult season.

"I get to play basketball for a living and life isn’t really that bad," Graham said h/t Tom Orsborn of San Antonio Express-News. "If not playing basketball is the worst thing going on in my life, I think I am doing pretty well. I just don’t look at the negatives."

Graham has a partial guarantee in his contract that becomes full if he's still on the roster at the start of the new league year, so chances are that he won't be back with the Spurs next season. However, a performance like this could turn heads among scouts keeping an eye on the game, and it may get Graham a foot in the door of the next place he could potentially play.

Graham and the Spurs are back in action on Sunday against the Philadelphia 76ers. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT.
