The San Antonio Spurs are officially in the offseason after beating the Detroit Pistons 123-95 on Sunday afternoon from the Frost Bank Center.

The win secured that the Spurs would finish with a 22-60 record, the same marks from the year before, which is something to hold their hat on. The 22-60 record came because the team won four of its last six games, including an upset win over the No. 2 seed Denver Nuggets in a game that knocked them out of the top spot.

“It was a good end to the season, for sure," Tre Jones said after Sunday's game. "We were playing better and better throughout the entire year. Each month we were getting better as a team and as a whole and playing more and more like the way we wanted to play offensively and defensively. Obviously, the win the other night was a huge one and then to come out tonight and play well again, I think it just goes to show all the work that we’ve been putting in all year. We continued to stay together, not get too down and just continue to go through all the tough times together and continue to grow.”

The Spurs had little to no expectations entering the season, and after their 18-game losing streak in November and December, it was made abundantly clear that this year was about rebuilding instead of wins. But the team did make progress as the year went on. After going 11-44 before the All-Star Break, the team was 11-16 after it. And that's something they can use for momentum going into the offseason and beyond.
