LOOK: Spurs Icon Manu Ginobili vs. Chupacabra?!
SAN ANTONIO - There is no question that many South Texans can be a bit superstitious. We've got "La Llorona" an evil witch, "The Cucuy" who's basically the Boogie Man to the rest of the nation and of course "Chupacabra", a hairless, ghastly beast who may or may not be evil. The creature is essentially a coyote with the mange if the photos and depictions are to be taken seriously.
We also take these sightings and run-ins with animals as signs that can be both good or bad omens. Take this week when San Antonio Spurs legend Manu Ginobili recorded what is believed to be a hairless coyote running through some brush. He posted the short video on Twitter and you can imagine what the locals are saying in his replies.
This, of course the same Manu who once swiped down and caught with his bare hands a Mexican Freetail bat that had somehow entered the AT&T Center.
Whether or not one believes that certain animal sightings or omens are true they are not to be trifled with in these parts. Lest you encounter the wrath of your grandmother or abuela.
With so much good going on right now with the Spurs, it's best to take all precautions.
Victor Wembanyama. New arena sponsor. New extension for head coach Gregg Popovich. Brand new practice and training center. Massive investments from new ownership partners. The good times seem to be around the corner once again for San Antonio. But what about Manu's chupacabra sighting? Let's all take the time to rub an egg on our heads just in case. You can look that one up yourself.
