San Antonio Spurs Exhausted in Blowout Loss vs. Indiana Pacers

The San Antonio Spurs got blown out on the road by the Indiana Pacers and should use it as motivation when the road trip continues.

The San Antonio Spurs were destroyed by the Indiana Pacers 152-111 on Monday night.

Clearly, playing a back-to-back troubled the young Spurs, who looked tired out of the gate. The Spurs surrendered 44 points in the first quarter, and everything appeared to spiral from there.

Doug McDermott of all people led the way for the Spurs, scoring 17 points on 4 of 6 shooting from deep. Victor Wembanyama only logged 21 minutes after going for 38 in the game prior–also a loss to the Toronto Raptors–he added 13 points, 10 rebounds, and two blocks.

On the other side, the Pacers had a balanced plan of attack: six players scored double-digit points. Myles Turner had a casual 11-rebound, 15-point double-double. It’s safe to say minimal effort was required down the stretch to beat a motley Spurs squad, who is very much missing Devin Vassell.

The Spurs were abysmal behind the arc, going 8 of 26 from deep compared to a cool 20 of 38 from Indiana. Frankly, the Spurs looked scared to shoot the ball, and the final score reflected it.

The Spurs have an off day before traveling to the Garden to take on the Knicks in New York, which should be a much closer contest. After the Spurs got blown out by the Clippers, they beat the Suns twice in shocking fashion. Hopefully moving forward, the Spurs can use demoralizing losses as motivation and bounce back. Fans have seen them do it before, so it’s not a huge ask.
