Apart from his height, San Antonio Spurs No. 1 pick Victor Wembanyama has a lot of unique aspects going for him.

It wouldn't take much research to find out that the rookie is an avid art and culture — making him a strong fit for San Antonio — and also a big family guy. Off the basketball court, Wembanyama aims to be well-kept and well spoken, even going as far as to specifically state that he "wants to be good" at media interviews.

But while those aspects of his character have drawn him media attention — believe it or not, more than he was already getting — they've also made him a strong asset to the Spurs' young roster, which his teammates have made clear.

In a recent interview, Spurs second-year forward Jeremy Sochan spoke on his new teammate, detailing the pair's off-court relationship and Wembanyama's personality.

"I think he is mature for his age," Sochan told USA Today FTW. "He wants to learn. He reads a lot, which is really cool. He is smart. He knows not to get distracted and that is why he is so good."

High praise from a fellow foreign talent in San Antonio. Up to this point, much of the Wembanyama hype has centered around what could be. He's tall, he's nimble and he has sky-high potential, but it hasn't been proven yet.

According to Sochan, however, on-court success is likely to come of Wembanyama's time in San Antonio.

"I love how much [Victor] wants it," Sochan said. "He’s hungry. He wants to win. He’s a team player, and he wants to win together. It’s super exciting to have the No. 1 pick. It speeds things up. Hopefully, we all stay healthy. We are going to work hard to play as a team, and I think we are going to be pretty good."

"Pretty good" will certainly be in the cards next season, especially now that San Antonio's roster is set to feature more returning players than last season.

Sochan will be one of them, and seeing as he's set to enter a new leadership role in Year 2, Wembanyama will likely be atop his list of players to work with and mentor.
