When the San Antonio Spurs select Victor Wembanyama with the No. 1 pick in this year's draft, they will hope that he can stay healthy, a reasonable concern for the soon-to-be tallest player in the NBA.

Injuries have derailed the careers of several former top picks who had so much potential coming into the league. Yao Ming, Greg Oden and Ben Simmons are among the players that come to mind who have had their careers go south due to injuries.

However, ESPN insider Brian Windhorst, who was on location in France with Wembanyama when the Spurs were awarded the No. 1 pick, says that he is doing what he can to prevent injury.

"He's spent the last 3 or 4 years using a series of exercises to strengthen his feet to prevent injury. Not 100% of course, but he's done everything that's known in science to keep him safe," ESPN writes via Air Alamo.

Since 2020, Wembanyama has dealt with his fair share of injuries, some because of his massive frame. However, his potential and pros far outweigh the cons and as long as he can stay healthy, the Spurs are about to welcome someone who can be one of the greatest players of all-time if all goes right.
