The San Antonio Spurs haven't won a game in a month, but spirits are still high amongst the group, even after a 121-106 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday night at the Smoothie King Center.

The Spurs played the game without No. 1 overall pick Victor Wembanyama, but there was still a lot to take away from the matchup. It was a balanced offensive effort from the Spurs, who had eight players score in double figures, including Keldon Johnson.

“I feel like we’re playing better," Johnson said. "Obviously, we want to win, we don’t want to lose. We’re trending in the right direction. We continue to get better each and every game. We have to limit the turnovers [and] limit mistakes. We’re improving.”

The turnovers were an issue for the Spurs against the Pelicans. San Antonio allowed 19 turnovers compared to New Orleans' 11. The Spurs allow 16.6 turnovers per game, which is the fourth-most in the league behind the Utah Jazz, Detroit Pistons and Portland Trail Blazers.

If the Spurs can find a way to limit turnovers, their chances of ending this losing streak will only go up. Perhaps four days of rest will allow the Spurs to get on the same page and find ways to make that possible.

The Spurs are back in action on Wednesday when they visit the top team in the Western Conference, the Minnesota Timberwolves. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT and the game can be watched on ESPN or ESPN+.
