Spurs Look to Bounce Back Defensively vs. Kings

The Sacramento Kings, one of the league's best offensive teams, should provide a strong test for the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday.

The San Antonio Spurs held a one-point lead heading into the fourth quarter against the defending champion Golden State Warriors on Friday night.

However, the Spurs still fell short by 15 points after an offensive explosion from Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole, who combined to knock down 20 three-pointers.

The Spurs hope to learn from their mistakes Friday and apply it in tonight's game against the Sacramento Kings.

"We stayed in the game. They hit some shots. They got some great players that make shots and a team that knows how to play. They hit shots coming down the stretch and we had some defensive flaws," Keldon Johnson said.

Despite their defensive lapse in the final frame of Friday's contest, head coach Gregg Popovich once again preached and praised the effort from his young team.

"A lot of good stuff out there," Popovich said. "Golden State got hot down that stretch. That's what they do. They did a great job of taking over in the fourth quarter. I thought our effort was great. Did a lot of good things defensively and offensively. Really pleased with some of the development of the guys out there. It was a good night."

The Spurs and Kings tip off at 5:00 p.m. in Sacramento.
