The San Antonio Spurs are still in the loss column after a 120-108 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday night at the Frost Bank Center.

In a script that eerily resembles Friday night's loss against the Sacramento Kings, the Spurs raced out to a big lead early. San Antonio took advantage of Memphis's ravaged roster and zoomed out to a 17-point lead after the second quarter.

However, the Grizzlies began to creep back into the game in the third quarter. Memphis outscored San Antonio 36-26 in the frame and cut the deficit to seven points going into the fourth quarter.

In the fourth, the Spurs were held to just 14 points by the Grizzlies' suffocating defense. Memphis took the lead and ran away by double digits in its win.

In the box score, the Grizzlies were led by Jaren Jackson Jr., who scored a game-high 27 points. Desmond Bane added 26, while Santi Aldama and Ziaire Williams pitched in with 17 points apiece off the bench. For the Spurs, Victor Wembanyama impressed with 19 points, 13 rebounds and a career-high eight blocks. Keldon Johnson led all Spurs with 22 points.

The loss makes it eight straight for the Spurs, who have not won since Nov. 2 against the Phoenix Suns. The team is slowly coming back down to earth after its 3-2 record to start the season.

The Spurs are off tomorrow but are back in action for a two-game series Monday and Wednesday against the Los Angeles Clippers.
