Nearly 11 months later, the San Antonio Spurs appear happy with their choice to select Jeremy Sochan with the No. 9 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.

Sochan averaged 11 points and 5.3 rebounds per game during his rookie season with the Spurs and was named to the All-Rookie Second Team for his efforts.

His performance also caught the attention of The Athletic, which placed him at No. 6 in a 2022 NBA Re-draft exercise.

"Outside of his shooting, Sochan remains everything teams look for in a high-level developmental prospect," The Athletic writes. "He has genuine size at 6-foot-9 with a massive wingspan, and he’s willing and able to take on tough on-ball defensive assignments in addition to playing strong help defense. Offensively, Sochan took the on-ball reps he was given this year and really blossomed. Over his last 17 games, he averaged almost 16 points, six rebounds and three assists while making good decisions and expanding his game."

Sochan had his moments where he looked like a rookie, but there were more times where he looked far more seasoned than the average first-year pro. While Sochan is still very raw as a prospect, he has the ability to be a true change-maker in the Spurs' rebuild and if he is on the next great team in San Antonio, many will point towards drafting him as a turning point for the franchise.
