San Antonio Spurs guard Devin Vassell is slowly getting back into his rhythm.

Vassell was on a career-best tear earlier this season, playing the best basketball of his life, but that was unfortunately cut short after having to undergo knee surgery.

Vassell has played in just four games since returning and looked to pick things up where he left off after averaging 15 points per game over his first three contests back in the lineup. However, he struggled in Sunday's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, scoring just eight points on 2 of 10 shooting in a 102-90 loss.

"He [Devin Vassell] was out for two months. If you're out for two or three games, trying to get back into it is tough," teammate Zach Collins said. "Being out for a couple of months is always hard. He works extremely hard. He's in the gym all the time. He's a gym rat."

The Spurs could have easily told Vassell to rest for the final month of the season and to come back fully healthy next year. However, they found an opportunity for Vassell to contribute and get more reps for the rebuilding Spurs. His goal for the remainder of the season should be to try and extract as much value as possible in every game, all while staying healthy.

He's definitely adding value to the Spurs as one of the few potential pieces that could be on the next great team in San Antonio, but now it's about getting through these bumps in the road.
