'It's Surreal!' Spurs' Tony Parker Praised by Friend, Soccer Legend Thierry Henry
SAN ANTONIO - English Premier League soccer God Thierry Henry is in awe of his good friend Tony Parker.
The San Antonio Spurs legend seals that moniker this weekend as he will be officially inducted into the National Basketball Hall of Fame alongside former teammate Pau Gasol and former coaches Gregg Popovich and Becky Hammon.
Henry, who would be mobbed on the streets of North London, has attended many Spurs games rather inconspicuously in years past. He was back in south Texas this week to attend parties thrown by Parker before the contingent heads to Springfield, MA for the induction and speech.
"Although I followed him all the way it's still not something I can comprehend," Henry told KENS-TV reporter Nate Ryan. "I know it's surreal and he's deserving but it's crazy when you think about it."
When asked if he was finally ready to admit he was a Spurs fan Henry sarcastically confused the NBA team from San Antonio with Arsenal arch rival Tottenham Hotspur.
"I'm an Arsenal fan. Are you mad?!" Henry laughed when asked.
A great week indeed not just for Spurs fans but also for Parker's fans worldwide. Be they basketball fans or soccer legends.
