Victor Wembanyama Reveals Why San Antonio Spurs Beat Utah Jazz
San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama was admittedly rusty in his return to the lineup on Wednesday, where the team picked up its second straight victory - this time against the Utah Jazz in Salt Lake City.
Wembanyama was slightly under his averages, but a 19-point, seven-rebound effort was certainly not too shabby.
"It's always the challenge for me," Wembanyama said postgame. "Moving my body in the space after having a game off. It's just comes with rhythm. The altitude made it hard for all of us to keep that pace. We have to rely on other stuff and other things like trusting our teammates sharing the ball. This is one of the major reasons we won the game."
In both victories during the Spurs' win streak, the team has played very together, which is arguably the top ingredient for winning basketball in the NBA. The team struggled at the beginning of the season with synergy, but even with the nightly changes of players entering and exiting the lineup, there's enough of a prerequisite there to have the Spurs comfortable enough to play with each other.
Wembanyama is growing more comfortable with his teammates, and that will be the ultimate reason behind the long-term success of the Spurs.
The Spurs are back in action at home tomorrow night when the New York Knicks come to town. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT.
