The San Antonio Spurs are about a month away from officially beginning the newest chapter in franchise history to draft Victor Wembanyama with the No. 1 overall pick.

Wembanyama is expected to be the third No. 1 pick in Spurs franchise history after David Robinson and Tim Duncan, both of whom won multiple championships and are arguably the two best players in franchise history. Now, Wembanyama gets to carry the legacy.

Minnesota Timberwolves guard Austin Rivers, an NBA veteran for over 10 years, believes Wembanyama going to San Antonio is great for the league.

"That culture they have within the Spurs, they don't get in trouble there," Rivers said on "The Ringer NBA Show". "They don't allow it. You saw what happened with [Josh] Primo. He pulled some s*** a couple of times and they got his ass out of there. This is perfect for Victor. Best case scenario for the NBA."

The Spurs were one of the most successful franchises in sports for two decades during the Duncan era, but have missed the playoffs for the past four seasons. This year, they finished with just 22 wins, their worst mark in over 25 years. But now with Wembanyama in the fold, there's hope that the Spurs can return to relevancy and become one of the elite teams in the NBA once again.
