In this story:

San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama is in pursuit of his "ultimate ceiling."

"If [Wembanyama] reaches his ultimate ceiling — which could be something like 90 percent of Rudy Gobert on defense and 80-85 percent of Kevin Durant on offense — he'll go down as an all-time great," Bleacher Report wrote. "That outcome isn't guaranteed, and there may be a longer adjustment period than some expect, but on upside alone, Wembanyama is one of the best prospects ever."

If he can reach that threshold, Wembanyama could go down as one of the greats of the sport.

The final piece of Wembanyama's potential comes down to a combination of both his offense, defense and health.

Yes, he's proven himself capable of scoring more than 30 points. Yes, he's proven himself capable of registering five blocks in a single game. Yes, he's proven himself capable of staying healthy throughout an entire season of Metropolitans 92 basketball.

But can he do all three at the same time, and can he do it on a regular basis?

The latter question, especially, is one that will be heavily debated all throughout this season. Wembanyama's impact will be broken down on a game-by-game basis — and if he doesn't perform well, he'll definitely be hearing about it.

Media critics and fans were quick to write of the rookie after his first Summer League game, when he had an extremely small offensive impact. And his words after that performance?

"Honestly, I didn’t really know what I was doing on the court tonight."

Obviously, Wembanyama is going to have a learning curve. Him becoming a superstar won't happen overnight, and he knows it. To this point, he hasn't been the type to hide his feelings or the things he's learning, and that will bode well for not only his on-court performance, but for his relationships with his coaches.

And if he has a strong relationship with a leader like Gregg Popovich, finding consistency is likely to be easy. And that would complete his quest at reaching his "ultimate ceiling," which as a rookie, would be an incredible feat.

Then again, nothing about Wembanyama to this point hasn't been incredible.
