Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama Picks Up New Injury, Ruled OUT vs. Kings
San Antonio Spurs rookie star Victor Wembanyama entered Tuesday’s matchup against the Houston Rockets with a shoulder injury.
He ended up playing in the 114-101 loss despite being a game-time decision, but now he’s picked up a new injury.
The Spurs announced that Wembanyama is out for Thursday night’s game against the Sacramento Kings due to a right ankle sprain. It will mark the seventh game that Wembanyama has missed this season.
This season, Wembanyama is averaging 20.7 points, 10.3 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.3 steals and a league-leading 3.4 blocks.
However, he had one of his worst games in over two months in the loss to the Rockets despite flirting with a triple-double, finishing with 10 points, 11 rebounds and seven blocks. The scoring output marked his lowest since Dec. 21 against the Chicago Bulls when he scored a season-low seven points.

The Spurs have dropped both meetings with the Kings this season, and will have a tough time avoiding another loss without Wembanyama on the road. Still, both losses were within single digits, as the Spurs have shown they can hang with a talented team that’s highlighted by De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis.
Thursday’s game at Golden 1 Center will tip-off at 9 p.m. CT.
