Los Angeles Lakers vs. San Antonio Spurs GAMEDAY Preview: How to Watch, Betting Odds, Injury Report, More
The San Antonio Spurs are taking on the Los Angeles Lakers at Frost Bank Center for the second time in three nights on Friday.
The Spurs (3-20) will look to end an 18-game losing streak that was extended by Wednesday's 122-119 loss to the Lakers (15-10), who were without superstar forward LeBron James.
After missing Wednesday's game, James is listed as questionable to play Friday due to a calf injury.
With no James on the floor, Anthony Davis took over for the Lakers, finishing with a game-high 37 points to go along with 10 rebounds. However, he wasn't met without a challenge.
Spurs rookie star Victor Wembanyama led San Antonio on a furious rally in the fourth quarter after trailing by 14 with 6:37 to play. He brought the Spurs to within one with 21.2 seconds left, but fell just short. Still, he finished with 30 points, 13 rebounds, six blocks and three steals.
“He showed why he was the No. 1 pick and leading candidate for Rookie of the Year,” Davis said.
“It was a great experience,” Wembanyama said of facing Davis. “He’s somebody I’ve studied a little bit in the past. I’m glad I’m going to be able to play so many more times against him.”
