Spurs vs. Wizards: 3 Best Bets
As the San Antonio Spurs get ready to face the Washington Wizards, they’re thankful to have Victor Wembanyama back in the lineup. He missed their 124-120 loss to the Charlotte Hornets to rest up for tonight’s matchup, and it’s safe to say that he will be bringing his best game with him to the Capital.
The Spurs are rumored to be interested in Washington’s leading scorer, Kyle Kuzma, but a frontcourt of Wembanyama and Jeremy Sochan should be enough to best the Wizards. The Spurs are a slight underdog, but that’s mostly because Washington is the home team.
Both teams are mostly healthy. The Spurs are still without Charles Bassey and Sidy Cissoko, and Washington’s Daniel Gafford is questionable. After scoring 16 points in his first game since December, Zach Collins is expected to come off the bench behind Wembanyama for the Spurs.

Our Picks
Safe pick: Victor Wembanyama OVER 21.5 points (-118)
Not only has Wembanyama been on fire recently, averaging 23.8 points over his last five games, but the Wizards allow the second-most points in the paint, with 58 per game. Wembanyama is taking slightly fewer threes than he did at the start of the season, so by attacking the basket, he should easily be able to surpass this line.
Opponent pick: Tyus Jones OVER 12.5 points (-110)
In four games against his brother, Tre, Tyus Jones averaged 17.8 points last season. This year, he is posting 12.5 points per game, the highest of his career. He is also shooting above 40 percernt from deep for the first time, and with Wembanyama down low for the Spurs, the Wizards will have to score from deep if they want to win. Jones will get plenty of shots, and the brotherly rivalry should be enough to propel him over the top.
Wemby ‘Going to Feel Weird’ Playing vs. Ex-French Teammate Bilal Coulibaly
Team pick: Spurs to win (+115)
Both teams are bad, each winning only seven games so far this season. Both teams are 2-8 over their last ten games, and the Wizards have home court advnatage. Plus, the Spurs are playing the second half of a back-to-back, so what gives? The Spurs have a bad offense and a decent defense, and the Wizards are the inverse. You can never count on a Jordan Poole led team to do well, he’s just way too streaky for all that. The return of Wemby helps the Spurs’ cause tonight, and when the Wizards lose, they lose bad, by an average of 9.7 points. Expect the Spurs to outlast Washington on their home court.
