San Antonio Spurs Big Man Zach Collins is a 'Horse' Says Jeremy Sochan
Zach Collins averaged over 10 points per game for the first time in his career this past season, and his hard work is not going unnoticed by his teammates.
Collins averaged 11.6 points and 6.4 rebounds this past year in his second season with the Spurs in what was a career year in every single stat for the big man.
Collins signed a two-year, $35 million extension with the Spurs on Sunday, a day before the deadline. His teammate Jeremy Sochan talked more about what it is like to play with Collins on Monday.
"He's a horse," said Sochan. "He works every day , not only on the court, but also on his body. He's just someone that you've gotta look up to, and yesterday showed that that has paid off. I'm just proud of him, because he deserved that."
The team has recently announced that Collins will be the starting center for this season, and that Victor Wembanyama will start at the power forward spot. It will be interesting to see how well the two of them work together in the Spurs very talented front court. Not only will he start this upcoming season, but Collins signing that extension on Sunday points toward him being the starting center for at least the immediate future.
Collins will have plenty of opportunities going forward to prove that he deserves that contract extension, as the regular season is now up and running. He and the rest of the Spurs will be back in action on Friday against the Houston Rockets. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. from the Frost Bank Center.
