Victor Wembanyama Admits Spurs' Fatigue Going Into All-Star Break
The San Antonio Spurs have had a long season. After a 3-2 start, the Spurs have won just seven of their last 48 games en route to a 10-43 mark.
Even though the Spurs are young, the wear and tear of an NBA season affects everyone, including No. 1 overall pick Victor Wembanyama.
"I feel fine. Our bodies are impacted," Wembanyama said. "The challenge is ... making those extra efforts; even though we don't feel it, we jump a little bit less high and run a little bit less fast at the beginning of the season, of course."
The physical nature of playing NBA basketball night in and night out is definitely not to be messed with. But then you add on the fact that the Spurs are in the midst of their "Rodeo Road Trip," where they are playing games for an extended amount of time away from home, sleeping in hotels and not being around family. That part of the fatigue isn't always seen, but as Wemby said, it is apparent.
The Spurs will have a week off for the All-Star Break where they can go home and recharge a bit for the final two months of the season, but the challenge for San Antonio in this latter part of the season is to continue growing and learning how to play with one another.
