SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Spurs should be making some moolah this season.

Betway has released a study that projects the Spurs to be one of the highest-grossing clubs in the NBA for the upcoming 2023-24 season.

That shouldn't come as a shock now that Victor Wembanyama is in the fold, the city and the team discuss plans to build a new arena with a fresh new sponsor and several appearances on national television. Quite the leap for an organization that was at the bottom of the ratings not even six months ago.

Should they sell out all 41 home games, and that seems to be a very doable task lately, the Spurs would be 6th in the league in ticket revenue. That's just a skosh below $200 million. That's chump change for the New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers or Chicago Bulls but lifeblood for the small-market Spurs.

How does a club make that much money besides drafting the biggest phenom to enter the NBA since LeBron James? Hike up those ticket prices, baby!

They set a one day record for season ticket sales the night they won the draft lottery and the rights to Wemby. The Spurs aren't just being diligent about their new toy, they are being smart. You don't sell out 41 nights unless there is demand and San Antonians are shelling it out as never before.

So if you want to attend a game this season, you better budget for it. Check those pillow cushions and ash trays, because the Spurs aren't cheap.
