Wizards Fire Wes Unseld Jr. as Coach, Spurs Ex Assistant Promoted to Interim
The Washington Wizards are making changes to their coaching staff.
According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Wizards are removing Wes Unseld Jr. from the coaching staff and transitioning him into a front office role with the team.
The interim coach is Brian Keefe, a longtime NBA assistant who started with the San Antonio Spurs as the team's video coordinator.
Keefe was part of the team's 2006-07 staff, which won the NBA Finals against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Since then, Keefe has coached with the Oklahoma City Thunder, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets, before joining the Wizards in 2023.

The Wizards hold a 7-36 record this season; only the Detroit Pistons have a mark worse than Washington.
The Spurs beat the Wizards in Washington earlier this month, but the two teams are scheduled for a rematch on Monday night at the Frost Bank Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT.
