'You Got to Score!' Spurs Hope to Stop Shooting Woes vs. Mavericks

The San Antonio Spurs were held to less than 100 points in their last game. Will the same happen tonight against the Dallas Mavericks?

The San Antonio Spurs are hoping to snap a three-game losing streak when they visit the Dallas Mavericks tonight at the American Airlines Center.

In order to do that, the Spurs have to shoot better than they did in their loss against the Chicago Bulls. The Spurs attempted just 81 shots in the game and made 37 of those attempts for a 45.7 percent shooting clip. It was the sixth time the Spurs have been held to under 100 points this season, and the team is 0-6 when that happens.

"You got to score," Gregg Popovich said after the game. "We had three-quarters of pretty good defense. Held them (Bulls) to 25 (points). They broke it open in the fourth (period). You got to score and we got a problem with scoring all year basically."

The Spurs are learning how to play with each other, but the blueprint is there when you have No. 1 overall pick Victor Wembanyama.

Spurs Mock Draft: Who Does SA Select?

"Wemby (Wembanyama) at 7-5 we got to see him," Devin Vassell said. "He's down there whether he's posting up or he's sealing early, we got to see him. If Jeremy (Sochan) is posting a smaller guard we got to know that's a mismatch."

Vassell, Wembanyama and the rest of the Spurs are back in action tonight against the Mavericks. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT.
