Chris Paul Wants to Stay With Suns
Phoenix Suns point guard Chris Paul didn't mince words on what he wants for his future during an interview with The Arizona Republic's Duane Rankin.
“Absolutely,” Paul said when asked if he wants to stay in the Valley. “That’s why I’m there.”
Paul's future has been under heavy speculation for some time now. Phoenix reportedly explored options for the future at the trade deadline, and those intentions were only accelerated last week when it was initially reported the Suns were planning on waiving Paul ahead of the June 28 deadline where his $30.8 million salary becomes fully guaranteed.
“I’ve talked with my family, we’ve had conversations about what could be, what might be,” Paul said. “I’ve talked with my agent. Talked to my brother (C.J. Paul)."
Paul isn't the only notable name who could see their future altered in Phoenix. Along with nine players hitting some sort of free agency, the Suns are heavily expected to gauge the market of Deandre Ayton.
New owner Mat Ishbia has made it clear that even more changes are on the way after acquiring Kevin Durant and firing Monty Williams.
Could those changes include Paul?
It feels like if Paul does return to Phoenix, the Suns aren't intent on him returning on his current salary. The organization has roughly two weeks to sort through their thoughts and plan of action.
