PHOENIX -- The Phoenix Suns officially clinched a spot in the NBA playoffs with their victory over the San Antonio Spurs last night. They've extended their winning streak to six games (the best in the NBA right now while tying a regular season best).

With their spot locked into the No. 4 seed set, the Suns now will move into postseason preparation mode with just three games left.

They came close two years ago when they made the trip to the 2021 NBA Finals. Expectations were up after they set a franchise record 64 wins in the regular season last year before crashing and burning in the second round of the postseason.

Now with Kevin Durant on the roster, can the Suns make a viable push to capture their first NBA title?

Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich believes so.

“You know, with Chris being the point along with veterans like Book and KD), they can get it together," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said following the game. "He’s a great leader. KD and Book know what it takes, Monty and his staff do a great job. They would probably like to have a few more games to get a rhythm down but they can still get it done without a doubt."

With last night's victory, the Suns have now won their last nine games against the Spurs.

If any coach knows what a winning basketball team looks like, it's Popovich. He's a five-time NBA champion with San Antonio and oversaw one of the strongest teams in league history.
