The Phoenix Suns haven't had the season that they expected to have, in large part thanks to Devin Booker's health. The supporting cast isn't enough to win games without Booker, causing significant problems for the Suns thus far.

They're fighting to stay in play-in contention with Booker out of the lineup and need to flip a switch if they want to compete in the playoffs.

Here are three things Phoenix needs to do to get back on track:

Make moves at the trade deadline

Crowder

The one thing that has become apparent this season is how weak the roster surrounding Booker is. They have a playmaker in Chris Paul and some offense in Mikal Bridges and Deandre Ayton, but they need a player that can drop 20+ points consistently outside of Booker. We recently listed four potential trade candidates who would give the Suns a second option. They should also look for another center to back up Ayton, as Jock Landale/Bismack Biyombo isn't going to cut it in the playoffs.

If they can add a second option and potentially a few depth pieces, they will be a terrifying team come playoff time.

Get and stay healthy

Devin Booker

While the supporting cast could have been better, it's also banged up. There was a game in which Phoenix just had enough active players to play the game. The amount of injuries suffered by Suns players has been absurd at times and makes you wonder what kind of conditioning they get. Regardless, it's significantly impacted their down year thus far.

Their best players have been out of the lineup for most of the season, as Paul and Booker have played just 11 games together this season. That said, the team has continued to get healthier and is looking up as they head toward the trade deadline.

Change their mindset

Doc Rivers

This season has been challenging for the Suns from the jump, starting with the Jae Crowder drama. That set a sour tone on the season early on, and the problem is not yet over. They have also seemed to give up or panic at times when undermanned or when facing an early deficit. Other teams seem to have a scrappy or never give up playstyle and fight their way back into games.

Phoenix needs to do so, even when the cards aren't in their favor. With the right mentality, they can win when they need to, despite any obstacles in the way. A fighting mindset, with a healthy and improved roster, will be a recipe for success for the Suns in the playoffs.
