Devin Booker Missing From All-Time John Calipari Kentucky Squad

Phoenix Suns shooting guard Devin Booker wasn't even an honorable mention for a recent list building a lineup from John Calipari's best Kentucky Wildcats.

Before Phoenix Suns SG Devin Booker emerged as one of the best scorers in the NBA, he dominated at the college ranks.

Booker committed to play for the Kentucky Wildcats prior to his arrival in Lexington to play under the prestigious John Calipari, who is known as one of the top recruiters in all of college basketball.

Numerous names have come and gone under Coach Cal, as Kentucky regularly produces NBA-level talent at assembly line pace.

A small portion of his bio from UK Athletics shows just how good he was in college:

"Earned SEC Sixth Man of the Year honors … Tabbed to the All-SEC Second Team and the All-SEC Freshman Team … Made the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll … Won four straight SEC Freshman of the Week honors between Jan. 12 and Feb. 2, 2015, while also earning the honor a league-high five times … Appeared in 38 games for the Wildcats … Averaged 10 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game, while also sinking 58 shots from long range, second most on the team"

Booker averaged ten points per game on 47% shooting from the field, which includes 41.1% from three-point land. Kentucky lost to Wisconsin in the Final Four that season.

Booker was soon made a lottery pick when the Suns took him at No. 13 in the 2015 NBA Draft.

On3.com's Jamie Shaw compiled an all-time starting lineup for Calipari, and Booker didn't quite make the cut:

Shaw's lineup looked like this:

G- John Wall
G- Jamal Murray
F- Malik Monk
F- Anthony Davis
C- Demarcus Cousins

Sixth Man: C Oscar Tshiebwe

Booker also was not in the 22 players who made the cut to ride the bench according to Shaw:

"G Eric Bledsoe (‘09-’10), G Brandon Knight (‘10-’11), G Tyler Ulis (‘14-’16), G DeAaron Fox (‘16-’17), G Shai Gilgeous Alexander (‘17-’18), G Immanuel Quickley (‘18-’20), G Tyrese Maxey (‘19-’20), G Aaron Harrison (‘13-’15), F Michael Kidd Gilchrist (‘11-’12), G Tyler Herro (‘’18-’19), G TyTy Washington (‘21-’22), G Cason Wallace (‘22-’23), C Willie Cauley Stein (‘12-’15), C Nerlens Noel (‘12-’13), C Karl Anthony Towns (‘14-’15), Nick Richards (‘17-’20), F Terrence Jones (‘10-’12), F Kevin Knox (‘17-’18), F Keldon Johnson (‘18-’19), F Julius Randle (‘13-’14), F Bam Adebayo (‘16-’17), F PJ Washington (‘17-’19)"

Booker certainly has gone through a lot of growth since arriving in Phoenix, as playing through some awfully tough teams (not Detroit Pistons in the 90's tough, more like tough to watch) helped him build his craft.

Now, with Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal on his side, Booker hopes to lead the Suns to their first ever title. They begin preseason action on Oct. 8.
