Kevin Durant Excited to Play With Devin Booker, Chris Paul
Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant knows special talent when he sees it.
Durant - one of the greatest to ever play the game - has had the luxury of sharing the court with players such as Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Kyrie Irving, Russell Westbrook and James Harden among others.
Now, he's able to add Devin Booker and Chris Paul to the mix.
Durant now finds himself in Phoenix after landing here with TJ Warren in exchange for Cam Johnson, Mikal Bridges and a slew of draft picks.
Championship expectations now are infused again in the Valley, and considering the talent now within the lineup, that's rightfully so.
Durant now will be playing alongside one of the league's best scorers in Booker, a duo that's been previously seen for the USA Olympic Team but never in league action, until now.
“I can probably provide him a little bit more space than he’s used to with my shooting ability,” Durant told Boardroom. “And I see a lot of games. He gets double-teamed a lot, especially off the small forward, which is the position I played. So, I can help provide him a little bit more space, which would make him even more efficient, and vice versa. I played against a lot of double teams as well with the Nets, so having another shooter out there at the wing position can help me, too.”
The scoring potential between the two is exciting, especially when you have one of this generation's best floor generals in Paul running the point.
“I think CP is looking to get the assist more than he’s looking to get the bucket,” Durant said. “When he has to score, he will, but he’s trying to look for other guys first instead of shooting. I’m looking forward to seeing how that works. I’m used to scoring point guards and I know how to play off them, so I have to take some time to adapt to that, but I’m looking forward to it.”
Paul reflected the same love back in an earlier interview with ESPN.
“It’s taken some getting used to. I was telling [Devin Booker] the other day, I played with a lot of great players — I got a chance to play with Blake [Griffin], I got a chance to play with David West early in my career, I played with James [Harden] — [but] probably never two guys of this caliber, as far as Devin and KD. … I know I’m not taking it for granted. I told [Booker] not to.”
The trio could hit the floor together as soon as next Friday against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Durant has missed over a month's worth of action due to a MCL sprain.
