What Was Biggest Offseason Win for Phoenix Suns?
The Phoenix Suns have improved their team greatly over the course of the last few months - but what's been their biggest win?
Bleacher Report believes it's the trade for Bradley Beal, which involved pick-swaps but no first-round picks directly from Phoenix.
"It's fair to question the fit of Beal alongside Kevin Durant and Devin Booker, the $200 million-plus remaining on his four-year contract and the long-term financial implications for the Suns franchise now," wrote Greg Swartz.
"At the end of the day, however, swapping 38-year-old Chris Paul for 30-year-old Bradley Beal coming off a season where he averaged 23.2 points and 5.4 assists on 50.6 percent shooting is a massive talent upgrade.
"Six second-round picks and four first-round pick swaps isn't nothing, but players as talented as Beal simply don't get traded without a first-round pick or significant young talent coming back in return. Phoenix sacrificed neither and still got an All-Star caliber guard in his prime, thanks to Beal's no-trade clause."
Adding Beal was massive in what has now become an obvious star-driven league, and though his presence is important, you could also make a case for Phoenix's group of veterans who arrived in free agency as their biggest win.
After trading Beal and sticking with Ayton, the Suns banked on filling out the rest of their roster with quality talent on minimal contracts.
They were able to do exactly that, giving them the depth, length and shooting Phoenix desperately needed from their bench last postseason.
Adding a mixture of future second-round picks from various trades and replenishing their pool of draft capital was a strong win, too.
Some would also consider the hire of Frank Vogel a strong contender in this category. Monty Williams was pushed aside after another early playoff exit and the Suns hired Vogel, a defensive-minded coach with championship pedigree under his belt.
His mentality and prior experience with superstars back with the Los Angeles Lakers also bode well in the Valley.
Also, who can forget those sweet new uniforms?
There's plenty of wins for the Suns to celebrate, though it will all mean nothing if a championship doesn't arrive in the Valley soon.
