The Phoenix Suns were able to edge out the Dallas Mavericks in a thrilling 130-126 victory that saw the team emerge to 3-0 after acquiring Kevin Durant.

Durant paced both teams in scoring with 37, though the talk of the matchup came down to an exchange between Devin Booker and Luka Doncic that happened in the final seconds of the game.

"I'm not here to tattle tale," said Booker with a grin when asked what was said.

"I was talking to the ref. He said something to me the first time, I responded. You guys say you don't want everybody to be friendly-friendly. There you go, we got some smoke."

The rivalry between the two extends to last year's postseason, where the two had some notable exchanges on the court during a seven-game series where the Mavericks overcame a 2-0 deficit and embarrassed Phoenix on their home court for Game 7.

"It's just two competitors going at it. Everybody speaks on how friendly the NBA is now and don't like that. I have no problem with Luka [Doncic' on or off the court but when we're competing, we're competing ... I don't have a problem with anybody."

Doncic didn't have much to say after, though he did take a little jab at Booker.

"It's fine. It's just a competitive game. All good. Next time, just don't wait until there's 3 seconds left to talk."

The playoffs can't get here soon enough.
