Devin Booker's 52 Points Pushes Suns Past Pelicans
PHOENIX -- The Devin Booker show didn't disappoint down south.
The Phoenix Suns were propelled to a 123-109 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday night, pushing their current winning streak to four games and their overall record to 23-18 on the season.
Booker notched his sixth career game of 50+ points, finishing with 52 on 18-30 shooting to go along with four rebounds and five assists.
The Suns got off to a tremendous first quarter after Booker finished the opening period with 25 points, becoming just the second player all season (besides Mikal Bridges) to accomplish the feat.
Phoenix carried momentum into the locker room with a 69-52 advantage. New Orleans was held to just 3-20 shooting from downtown while the Suns forced eight turnovers in the first half.
It was a back-and-forth third quarter with runs from both sides before Phoenix held a 100-80 lead heading into the final 12 minutes.
The Suns pushed their lead to 30 halfway through the fourth, emptying their bench with four minutes remaining and eventually seeing the final buzzer sound for another victory.
Kevin Durant tallied 26 points with five boards, two assists, two steals and two blocks while Jusuf Nurkic grabbed a whopping 15 rebounds with nine assists.
Phoenix returns back home on Sunday to host the Indiana Pacers.
