The Phoenix Suns are set to take on the Brooklyn Nets tonight at 5:30 PM MST in a game that has more storylines than just on the court.

After the Nets traded Kyrie Irving to the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday, all eyes turned to what Brooklyn will decide to do with Kevin Durant. Shortly after the Irving trade, NBA insider Chris Haynes reported that the Suns would be willing to pursue Durant if he is made available, adding an interesting story line for this game tonight.

While Durant won’t play against the Suns tonight due to an MCL sprain, his potential trade to the Valley will still certainly be the hottest topic of conversation.

Another huge storyline going into this game is that Devin Booker is finally set to make his return to the Suns lineup after missing 21 games due to a groin injury. Prior to getting injured, Booker was averaging 27.1 points, 4.6 rebounds and 5.6 assists.

The Suns may not have been amazing throughout the six weeks Booker was out but over their past two games they have been phenomenal. On Friday, they defeated the Eastern Conference's No. 1 seed in the Boston Celtics 106-94 followed up the next night with a 116-100 victory over the Detroit Pistons.

Bridges was the main anchor over these past two games putting up over 20 points in both of them while against the Pistons, Deandre Ayton came up huge scoring 31 points to go along with 16 rebounds.

The Nets are coming off a 124-116 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. With Durant out of the lineup and Irving no longer with the team, Brooklyn is not in a great position. All of the attention is off the court for the Nets with the trade drama going on which is not good for a team that is still competing to make the playoffs and potentially a championship.

One player the Suns should watch out for on the Nets is 21-year-old Cam Thomas who scored 44 points against the Washington Wizards on Saturday and followed that up with a 47-point performance against the Clippers.

Brooklyn traded for Spencer Dinwiddie and Dorian Finney-Smith, both of whom likely will not play.

Will Phoenix turnaround their season now that Booker is back in the lineup? We may find that out tonight.
