Suns Lose 90-88 to Cavaliers on Last-Second Shot
The Phoenix Suns wrapped up the final of a six-game road trip on Wednesday looking to end their time away from home on a positive note.
That didn't quite happen despite the Suns having a fourth-quarter lead in their 90-88 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavaliers trailed for most of the second half before eventually taking an 88-85 lead with 40 seconds left.
After having the game tied, Evan Mobley hit a jumper with four seconds left to ice the game for Cleveland.
The Suns have now lost four in a row and seven of their last eight games. They've scored less than 90 points in back-to-back games.
Deandre Ayton notched his first double-double in four games with 15 points and 18 rebounds. Chris Paul paced the Suns in scoring with 25, as each starter scored in double figures.
Monty Williams opted for a bigger lineup on Wednesday night, utilizing Dario Saric at the four spot next to Ayton.
It was a rough game from the start for both squads, as the Cavaliers didn't score their first basket until 5:38 left in the first quarter. They went into the first break up 15-14.
Donovan Mitchell, after scoring 71 points on Monday, settled back down to Earth with 20 points and nine assists. Caris LeVert (21 points) led the Cavaliers in scoring.
Cleveland point guard Raul Neto (14 points) matched Phoenix's entire scoring production off the bench.
The Suns, who led by as much as 11 in the loss, will return home for a Friday showdown with the Miami Heat.
