Devin Booker Won't Play vs. Rockets
The Phoenix Suns are currently riding a four-game losing streak heading into Tuesday night's matchup with the Houston Rockets.
Despite missing shooting guard Devin Booker on Sunday, Phoenix took the New Orleans Pelicans to overtime with a lineup that featured two big men in Dario Saric and Deandre Ayton.
That lineup may again need to be tested as Booker won't be available for a second consecutive game due to hamstring tightness.
Following the loss in New Orleans, coach Monty Williams said he was proud of the team's effort despite all the missing pieces.
"I’m just proud of the effort we made when we got down. The thing that hurt was the start of the third. We just did not have the same pop in our discipline or in our defense. We let Zion (Williamson) reject the screen and go the other way a few times and that just broke down the back side," Williams said.
"After that third quarter, it was like, ‘Okay that's the Suns that we’re all used to seeing on both ends of the floor.’ Then we had a number of open three’s and we just couldn’t knock them down in timely moments. I‘m thankful for the shots we got and the guys were willing to take those shots.”
We may see a different lineup that features Chris Paul and either Cam Payne/Damion Lee this time around against Houston, who does not have a Zion Williamson to prepare for.
Booker was rumored to have been bothered by a hamstring in recent games, which may help explain the stretch of performances that saw him score less than 20 points in his last four nights before sitting out.
Phoenix takes on the Clippers Thursday night before returning home to again face New Orleans on Saturday.
