Suns Hope to Maintain Top Spot in West vs. Kings
The Phoenix Suns are in good form right now as they currently ride a four-game winning streak into the waters of California for a road trip against the Sacramento Kings.
Deandre Ayton's stellar play has provided a big boost in recent games, as he's tallied a total of 57 points, 33 rebounds and four blocks in his prior to contests.
Ayton, at least in his current form, is playing like the No. 1 pick Phoenix expected out of him. He knows his team demands that level, too.
"For this team I have to be that energizer, that dude who is making those plays, who is on the glass, who is dunking the ball, who is getting the crowd in it, setting all our screens, setting the tone of the physicality, moving people out of the way," Ayton said over the weekend.
"I’m the tone setter. When I do that my team follows, and everything falls into place when we play Suns basketball the right way.”
Phoenix hopes to continue their streak against a 10-8 Kings squad who won their previous eight-of-nine before their current two-game losing skid entering Monday.
De'Aaron Fox paces the Kings with 25.1 points per night. As a team, Sacramento can keep up with the best with nearly a 50% conversion rate from the field.
It will be another rest for Phoenix a team that holds a one-game advantage over the Denver Nuggets for the top spot in the west despite the absence of Cam Johnson and Chris Paul.
