Suns Prepare for Tough Sledding During Christmas Week Slate
The Phoenix Suns will be looking to bounce back this week after a rough stretch of games over the last few weeks. They will play four games this week, two of said teams are above .500.
Your preview to the Suns' week leading up to Christmas:
Monday (12/19): Phoenix Suns @ Los Angeles Lakers
The Los Angeles Lakers have been playing much better basketball since their 0-5 start and look to continue this play against a much better Suns team. The Lakers will be missing star big man Anthony Davis, who has been their MVP thus far this season. This should be an easy win for Phoenix, who are coming off a comeback win over the New Orleans Pelicans. Devin Booker singlehandedly led the team in that game, scoring 58 points. He will strive to thrive again, leading the team to their second-straight victory over a shorthanded Lakers team.
Prediction: Suns win 119-104
Tuesday (12/20): Suns vs. Wizards
In their second of back-to-back games, the Suns will take on a struggling Washington Wizards team. As of late, it appears the Wizards are in tanking mode. This is another matchup that Phoenix should dominate and could gain confidence back in. Getting back in the win column will be important this week, and they'll have an opportunity to do so against two struggling teams.
Prediction: Suns win 112-94
Friday (12/23): Suns vs. Grizzlies
The Memphis Grizzlies have suddenly become the hottest team in the Western Conference, winning eight of their last 10 games and taking over the No. 1 seed in the conference. This will be an important matchup in their hunt to sit atop the Western Conference. This game will be the toughest they have to play this week and a true test to see if the Suns have remained contenders throughout their struggles.
Prediction: Grizzlies win 117-113
Sunday (12/25) Suns @ Nuggets
Phoenix's Christmas day matchup will be against the three-seeded Denver Nuggets. This is another test for the Suns, especially if they lose on Friday against the Grizzlies. Phoenix will move up to at least the three seed if they pull off a win in Denver, along with two other victories this week. The Nuggets haven't been on the most remarkable stretch as of late, going 6-4 in their last 10 games. The Suns will look to take advantage of their inconsistent play and move up in the Western Conference standings.
Prediction: Suns win 126-118
