Devin Booker Sets New Suns Record vs Hornets
PHOENIX -- Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker has already established himself as one of the top players in franchise history.
There's debates he could solidify himself at the top when things are all said and done (a championship sure would help), though in the mean time Booker will continue re-writing franchise history books.
Booker entered tonight needing 20 points and five assists to extend his streak of tallying both to twelve games, setting a Suns record.
After nabbing five assists in the first half, it didn't take long for Booker to hit the 20-point threshold in the third quarter.
Adopting the point guard role following Chris Paul's departure, Booker is averaging a cool 8.2 assists per night, far beyond his previous career high of 6.8 in a season.
Current numbers such as his 5.3 rebounds and 6.8 free throws per night are also on pace to be new highs for the Kentucky product.
The Suns were just 15-15 entering tonight's game against Charlotte. Frustrations have been evident as Phoenix's star-studded cast have yet to over come injury and overall chemistry in the early portions of this season.
“It takes a collective group. It’s more than just us. We see a lot of attention on both sides of the ball. So just finding the correct spacing and just trying to work from that," Booker told The Athletic earlier this week.
The three-time All-Star ascended to No. 3 on Phoenix's all-time scoring list back in November. He already has the team's all-time lead in three-pointers made.
