Even former Phoenix Suns general manager Jerry Colangelo has put his two cents in on the Kevin Durant situation.

The Brooklyn Nets forward has been on the trade block for a month and a half after expressing his desire to leave, and a recent meeting with team owner Joe Tsai didn't exactly accelerate the process.

The Nets have asked for everything including the kitchen sink in return for the nearly 34-year-old shooter, and interested teams aren't willing to budge.

One side will eventually have to blink, and although many expect Durant to be on Brooklyn's roster to begin the season, we've reached purgatory levels of the KD to (insert location) news cycle.

There are many Suns fans that hope and wish for Durant's arrival to the Valley, and while Colangelo isn't exactly pounding the table for Phoenix to give whatever it takes, he certainly believes the opportunity to get Durant is unique.

"Obviously, if there’s a way for him to get to Phoenix and play with Booker and Paul," Colangelo said to The Athletic's Doug Haller, implying the Suns should greatly consider the move. "Chris is near the end, I’m not saying he’s at the end. But if (Durant) can get a couple years with those two guys, they could be great years for the Suns. I’d love to see that."

Haller said Colangelo first built a relationship with Durant beginning in 2006, when he invited the then-Texas Longhorns star to participate in Team USA's basketball training camp.

In the piece, Colangelo spoke on how the wide-eyed and youthful Durant is the same person as before. And that's okay.

“He’s not the same effervescent, glowing kid he was when I met him as a college freshman, but no one is,” Colangelo told The Athletic. “Everyone changes. I will say this: I have great respect for him. What he’s done with his talents and contribution … he’s a hooper, for sure. He loves the game. But he’s not a real outspoken guy, so when you talk about levels of making splashes, he does his splashing on the court. That’s who he is.”

That's mostly what Durant has been about: business. He hasn't directly spoken about his situation with the Nets, although he did find time this offseason to maintain his petty presence on social media and even created a tiktok account.

The Suns have been looking to handle business for awhile, and although they've came close in recent memory, close doesn't make the record books. There's a strong urgency for Phoenix to maximize the talent currently gathered on the roster, and the presence of Durant would surely put them as favorites to bring home their first NBA Finals trophy.
